KC Creations Photography of Burwell, NE is owned and operated by the mother-daughter duo of Becky Carr and Kellie Carr Augustyn. They opened for business in Nebraska in the summer of 2011. Being in a small town, they shoot a little bit of everything, from sports and commercial ventures to newborns, engagements, weddings and family portrait work, but their main focus is high school seniors.
Kellie is the main photographer and photo editor. She's an award-winning and nationally published PPA Certified Professional Photographer who's passionate about creating both memorable experiences and amazing images for our clients. Her attention to detail and eye for creativity add a special element to all the images she creates. While she graduated high school from Burwell, Kellie loves to travel and see the world, and has lived and photographed all over the country before moving home to open KC Creations with her mom, Becky. Her "gypsy gene" is still there, however, and you will find her several times a year shooting on location around Nebraska, the surrounding states, and her beloved "adopted home state" of Texas.
Kellie's favorite subjects are high school seniors because she loves hearing about their various passions and interests, and cheering them on as they go through their senior year and head off to college. "It's just such a unique and special time in their lives, I love being a part of that and creating a senior portrait experience they'll never forget," she says. “I also love to create portraits that instill a sense of confidence. So many times, people, especially teenagers, can’t seem to see their own beauty. We hope our images capture that for them, so they can get even just a glimpse of how fabulous they are, inside and out.”
Kellie married Justin Augustyn of Ord, NE, in September of 2017. The two reside at the 100+ year old Victorian house/studio in Burwell. They have four fur-babies, Cooper and Luxey, the sassy chihuahuas, Bliss, a golden retriever mix, and Kacey, a mini beagle. When she's not behind the lens, Kellie can be found in the classroom as a substitute teacher, cheering on her clients from the sidelines, cooking, traveling and doing various speaking engagements. She's active in the local community as a chamber member and president of the Burwell Rotary Club.
Becky Carr is the videographer, artistic album designer and bookkeeper. Becky's jobs are typically more "behind the scenes," but essential to the success of KC Creations! Clients love the video clips Becky includes in our premiere videos, and her albums are always one-of-a-kind. Albums have become an increasingly popular product, and Becky loves to capture the subject’s interests and personality within the pages of their album so that it is 100% unique. Before opening KC Creations Photography, Becky was an amateur photographer who has garnered many awards and publications over the years. While her three daughters were growing up, Becky always had her camera nearby, and printed hundreds of family photos and art images over the years of her work, reflecting the family's ranch life and love of rodeo and animals.
Becky's favorite subjects to have in the studio are newborns. A true "baby whisperer" and grandma extraordinaire, Becky has been known to prolong newborn sessions by holding and soothing the babies A LOT. She also loves capturing couples in love during engagement sessions!
Becky has been married to her husband, Jim, for over 48 years, and the two reside at the family ranch and feedlot northeast of Burwell. They also host the main shooting studio for KC Creations, which gives clients amazing, unique sets and country locations that are private and exclusive to KC Creations customers. Jim & Becky enjoy their three daughters and six grandchildren, skiing at the Calamus, working on their ranch, and traveling with family.
